Japanese prisoner beheaded by ISIS

Japanese prisoner beheaded by ISIS

ISIS recently captured two Japanese citizens. A man named Haruna Yakawa and a journalist named Kenji Goto. Apparently Yakawa was suffering through a midlife crisis and wanted to start a new in Syria, he wanted to set up his own security company wand find some peace while Goto was a war journalist and two became friends. When Yakawa was taken prisoner Goto went into the isis controlled regions to find his friend.

Initially ISIS demanded the Japanese government to hand over $200 million as ransom and when japan failed to do so a video was released of Goto holding a picture of his beheaded friend. At first the authenticity of the picture was questioned but later as specialists analyzed it they agreed that the video was authentic although some features of the video were different from the usual ISIS releases.

The step father of young Yukawa is extremely grief stricken. While Goto’s mother pleads that the militants send him back as he is not the enemy.

In recent news the ISIS demanded the release of one of their own, Sajida Al-Rishawi kept in a high security prison in Jordon, in exchange of the remaining prisoner. Both the Japanese and Jordon governments, supported by the U.S government, refuse to yield to the threats of the terrorists as they believe giving the terrorist association what it wants will only encourage the heinous act.
