Iran-US Deal Is A Threat To The Mere Existence Of Israel, Says Netanyahu

While the US administration has been citing the tenets of the Iran US nuclear deal as strong enough to counter all ambitions held by Iran on the nuclear front, Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be convinced of the opposite being true.

Netanyahu said in the present form, the framework agreement is only going to foster enrichment of uranium in centrifuges across Iran. Uranium is necessary to fuel nuclear combustion in nuclear reactors.

Netanyahu said the agreement does not deal with the present nuclear capability of Iran. It does not talk of dismantling any of the centrifuges or nuclear reactors operational in Iran. They are a threat to the very existence of Israel. The deal in its present form leaves about 6,000 centrifuges operational in Iran. The number is not enough to produce enriched uranium to produce a nuclear bomb, but Iran is in a position to enrich uranium at the end of the day.

Israel hangs on to the support lent to it by the US administration in many international forums like the UN. Netanyahu did go up to the US Congress in a bid to garner support against the nuclear dela between the US and Iran. But he could not break ice between the Democrats and the Republicans.

A framework agreement was signed between officials from the US and from Iran on April 2. The final deal is yet to be signed on June 30. Israel has been apprehensive of such a deal finally seeing the light of the day.
