Germany is going on next level to eliminate coal and nuclear plant dependency

Germany is going to force five coal power plants in the country to meet emission cuts by the end of this decade. Chancellor Angela Merkel struggled a lot due to parties in coalition due to this decision. Capacity reserve system would be established now according to the decision by the chancellor and other party members. In case of power shortage in particular area, the power provider can switch to the brown coal plants.

The CO2 emissions would be reduced by 40 percent by the end of this decade. (According to 1990 levels.)  The economy ministry spokesperson informed press that Germany would meet its emission reduction goals and looks forward to achieve the next target set by European Union by the end of 2030.  2.7 gig watts capacity brown coal fired power plants would be shut down and their electricity won’t be sold in the commercial market. The negotiations were on for hours.

Sigmar Gabriel, Economy Minister informed press that the country aims to get rid of nuclear and fossil fuels and become completely carbon and uranium free economy soon. The country is already known for its renewable energy innovations and success. The country plans to stock the brown coal for the time of emergencies. Total dependence on the renewable is expected to result in some shortages and these would be met by emergency use of brown coal power plants.

The economy minister was criticized for planning to impose harsh sanctions on the most polluting power plants. The coal industry fired back by saying that new sanctions would result in loss of 100,000 from power and mining.
