Another Batch Of Illegal Migrants From African Shores To Europe Rescued

Migrants aboard at least 16 boats were rescued by Italian coast guards and commercial vessels, but at least 10 dead bodies were also recovered in the operation. The relatively calm seas in this season provides perfect camouflage to the smugglers intent on getting men, women and children across the sea.

A tug boat and a merchant ship came to the aid of the Italian Cost Guard in the operation. The migrants were carried in three different rescue operations off the coast of Libya. The rescue operation followed the rescue of 3,690 migrants from smugglers' boats. Most of them were to find their way to ports in southern Europe.

Politicians in European countries are crying themselves hoarse over the issue of halting the flow of migrants from African ports to European countries. French patrol boats were instrumental in discovering groups of migrants aboard rubber dinghies. Italian authorities mean to send them back to African shores.

Because Italy has been the most popular destination of migrants, they have come up with a proposal that involves keeping migrants on the ferries that brought them till their documents have been examined. Those with valid documents are allowed to enter Italy.

The issue of those without valid documents remains unexplored. There has been continuous dangers of illegal migrants flowing into Italian shores thanks to the spell of calm weather. There has been an influx of migrants over the weekend in the   island of Lampedusa. Migrants have also made Sicily or Calabria their destination.

Local authorities have warned that they have run out of resources for these migrants. They cannot accommodate them in rooms. Temporary shelters have been erected for the purpose.
