Government reject Exxon request to reconsiders it penalty due to Montana oil spill

The Exxon Corporation is one of the biggest energy sector players in the United States. The energy companies have abused the ecologies in country for many years now. In an effort to maximize profit, these big corporations have avoided even safely standards to its employees. The British Petroleum oil spill recently left the marine ecology in the Gulf of Mexico exposed to millions of barrels of toxic oil and pollutant. The tragic event also threatened the lives of employees on board.
Looks like traditions of oil spill still continues in the nation. The Exxon Mobil recently dumped 63,000-gallon crude oil in the Yellowstone river flowing through Montana. The government reacted by imposing $1 million penalty on the company. But attitude of the corporation shows that they have no regret over the environmental disaster. The company asked government to reconsider its decision over fine. The Texas-based company should pay its fine within 20 days after a court hearing at Billings, Montana, according to order by US Department of Transportation.
The experts have pointed out how Exxon didn’t consider the environmental warnings issued from time to time. A silvertip pipeline, a 20-year-old structure was outdated and not equipped to carry massive load of fuel. It was quite obvious that it will burst if flooding occurs, The company still went ahead with project. The safely procedures were not followed when the spill occurred. Corporation lacked the ability to minimize the impact of spill. The massive destruction of the ecology has left fish, wildlife and plants dead.
