Three months time may see the upcoming of a joint Arab military force. This is going to wither all speculations of a divisions among Arab states, but at the same time, it is being viewed as another hand at gaining attention.
All the same, Arab states are bent on giving shape to their dream of a united Arab force meant to defend all the Arab states. There was a meeting of chiefs of staff of all the major Arab military forces in Cairo to carve out an outline for the force. Discussions included subjects like its actual makeup, rules of protocol to say nothing of the cost involved in the force. All these proposals stand to be ratified by the concerned heads of states within a period of three months.
All the Arab states seem to be united in their voice for the formation of a an armed force. The horde of obstacles fail to deter them. If the idea sees the light of the day, even if it sees limited use, it is going to see a metamorphic change in the alignment of all Arab states. There is to be a drastic change in the strategic realities concerned.
The concept has been in the minds of politicians of Middle East since 1920 when Syria faced defeat at the hands of the French army. Recent developments in the world like Israel facing a threat from Iran have made a joined force a necessity.
Reliance on the US and its powers is not going to be sufficient in the wake of Iran assuming power. With the ISIS gaining power over a large part of the Arabian lands, it is certainly not safe for Arab countries to continue for a long time without a joint security force.
